Nutrition

Nutrition is not only necessary for healthy cells and brain but also as a shield against virus and disease. Nutrition has become an essential element in most of our diets. From packaged food to fresh produce, nutrition is in every product. Human body does not function like an engine. As a matter fact, it is more complicated than any engine ever made. Unlike an engine that will run on simply gas and oil, human body demands much more than carbohydrates and fat. Without nutrients, essential vitamins, amino acids and minerals, human body may not perform efficiently. Not to mention, the different disease and weak immune system that may be a direct result of lack in Nutrition. Nutrition in a diet may depend on many factors such as Ingredients, Preparation Method and Metabolism.

First of all, Nutrition in a diet mainly comes from the ingredients. From chef's to cooks and from professional to household kitchens, all prepare food based on familiar recipes. These recipes help individuals to cook and serve well known, nutritious and aesthetically pleasing food dish. Those who don't have all the ingredients to make the right food dish for the right person may resort to innovations. Innovations with Nutrition in mind may not only cure many symptoms like vitamin and mineral deficiencies but also strengthen immune system. To begin, from field to fork, vegetables and fruits may go through different stages like cleaning, transport, refrigeration and storage. Some individuals claim that nutrition is lost in the refrigeration process. Hence, they may resort to fresh produce straight from the field especially in a hospital setting. Not to mention, many hospitals that deal with surgeries like that for hernia have their own greenhouses. Produce from the greenhouse is prepared in a hospital cafeteria to preserve the nutrition for patients that may otherwise be lost in any logistical chain. Apart from commercial hospitals, those who have patients at their residence may also try and source their veggie salads and fruit platters straight from a local field. Some may even resort to volunteering at these entrepreneurial type settings to grow their own vegetables like beets, onions, carrots, potatoes, cabbage, kale, spinach, cucumbers, tomatoes as well as ginger. Apart from the refrigeration process, knowledge of Nutrition in each ingredient may be crucial to a nutritious diet. Many websites readily provide this knowledge as soon as you upload your recipes and ingredients on these sites. Whether its vitamins, minerals or proteins, all are essentials for a human body. From vitamin C available in lemons to Vitamin B-12 available in meat products, all vitamins play a crucial role for healthy growth and development. Even fruits like strawberries and apples make up a major chunk of a protein milkshake with other ingredients like Whey powder. Lack or too much of any ingredient may result in to malnutrition, deficiencies and disease. As a result, Nutrition is a key element in all ingredients for both residential and commercial kitchens.

Secondly, food preparation methods may also dictate the amount of nutrition that is present in a meal. To begin, many food dish consist of boiling meat and sea food prior to consumption in a dish filled with gravy and curry. Though, boiling food may be great for preventing any food borne illness, nutrition is a major casualty in boiled food. Most of the chefs and cooks may prefer to steam meat and prepare gravy from spices separately. Once the meat or sea food is boiled or steam cooked, it is then mixed with curry and gravy. This way, most of the nutrition may be lost in the soup that was also a product of boiled meat. Furthermore, much of the nutrition may also be lost in drain when cleaning and preparing vegetables. Vitamins may be lost in drained water used to rinse veggies or the fluid that flows out from some of these vegetables. Hence, nutrition becomes a casualty of the process used to prepare an amazing food dish. Not to mention, nutrition that is lost from simply heating some vegetables and greens. For example, kale chips may have less than half the nutrition as that of fresh kale. However, if one is to extract fresh juice from vegetables and fruits, it may preserve nutrition lost otherwise in heated, grilled or cooked food. But there is a catch. One may lose most of the fibre rich pulp when juicing fruits and vegetables. However, for this problem, there may be a solution. Some may decide to use this leftover pulp for baked goods like muffins, cake and cookies. Therefore, food preparation methods play a huge role in preserving nutrition in a food dish.

Last of all, metabolism may also play an important role in the breakdown of nutrition. Some individuals may have really high metabolism while others may have slow metabolism. High metabolism means an individual burns most of what he or she consumes while lower metabolism may simply result in to fat deposits in the lower body region. Those with high metabolism burn fat and calories a lot quickly. As a result, they often need diets with high calories. A diet low in calories may result in symptoms and disorder related to hyper metabolism. Not to mention, a high calorie diet may also ignore some of the more important vitamins, minerals and proteins leading to further symptoms and disease. On the other hand, those with slow metabolism may feel sluggish and build up fat reserves. A good work out may be a solution to this issue. Overall, metabolism may play a crucial role in the delivery of nutrition to a human body.

In conclusion, Nutrition is not just an essential element of a human diet but also animal diet. From pets to live stock, everyone need nutrition for a healthy life style. Whether its a horse at a stable or cattle at a dairy farm, all need nutrition rich feed for an active and healthy life. A trip to a stable or opportunities at dairy farms may reveal the effort that goes in to feeding livestock. If not for this effort, disease may claim the lives of these animals for whom veterinary bills may be quite expensive. Not to mention, the quality of milk from these cattle that may take a direct hit from malnutrition. From those of us who may have fed and taken care of animals like goats, sheep and chicken when we were young, we know exactly how time consuming it is to raise these animals and feed them. Even those of us who might have had a pet bird might know the importance of a proper diet and a routine check needed for their longevity. Overall, nutrition is not just an essential element of a human diet but also animal diet.
